The RoLinTM component level encoder system consists of an RLM readhead and a self-adhesive MS magnetic scale.

 

The actuator is a periodically magnetised scale with a pole length of 2 mm. State of the art position sensing assures highly repeatable position measurement under wide installation tolerances and temperature range.

 

The electronics inside the readhead enable high interpolation rates up to 13 bits and fault monitoring. The incremental outputs are re-timed to the chosen minimal edge separation time (from 0.12 µs).

The position information is output in incremental quadrature format with the option of a periodic reference mark (every pole) or a magnetised reference mark.

 

A wide range of resolutions is available: 0.244 µm, 0.488 µm, 1 µm, 2 µm, 5 µm, 10 µm, 50 µm, 125 µm.

The maximum traverse velocity depends on the chosen resolution and minimum edge separation time, to 4 m/s at 1 µm and to 40 m/s at 10 µm.
