A 20 bit absolute magnetic ring encoder by RLS
4/14/2014 12:48 PM
RLS with its associate company Renishaw announce the availability of the new AksIM true absolute magnetic rotary encoder for embedded OEM motion control applications. With up to 20 bit resolution and zero hysteresis in a unique through-bore configuration, AksIM sets a new standard for magnetic encoder performance and value.
New generation position encoders for harsh environments
4/11/2014 12:48 PM
Traditional optical encoders are essential components in motion control systems. However, for
reliable operation it is necessary to protect them from harsh environments. This limits the diversity
of applications where encoders can be deployed and can add substantial cost – until now.
Developed by RLS d.o.o., a new line of high-performance magnetic encoders provide many of the
features of optical encoders but without increased robustness.
NEW Commutation encoder solutions
5/23/2011 12:00 AM
The OnAxis™ commutation magnetic rotary encoder range is designed for use in motor feedback applications requiring both A, B, Z incremental and U, V, W commutation signals.
NEW E201 USB encoder interface
4/15/2011 12:00 AM
The E201 is a single channel USB encoder interface suitable for use with a wide variety of 5 V rotary and linear encoders. The E201 replaces the P201 interface.
NEW RoLin™ component magnetic encoder system
11/26/2010 12:00 AM
RoLin™ is a component level encoder system consisting of an RLM readhead and MS magnetic scale or MR ring. It has been designed for embedded motion control applications as a position control loop feedback element.
The actuator is a periodically magnetised scale or ring with a pole length (P) of 2 mm. Radial or axial reading of the ring is possible.
The new LM15 linear encoder provides ride heights to 4 mm
5/25/2009 12:00 AM
The New LM15 linear magnetic encoder brings up to 100 m travel to demanding high-speed applications. The solid-state, non-contact design features a compact IP68 readhead that rides at up to 4 mm from the self adhesive magnetic strip scale.
The non-contact magnetic sensing delivers reliability in applications too dusty, dirty, greasy or destructive for optical encoders, while providing OEMs with major cost savings. Installation is simplified with an integral setup LED, wide installation tolerances and an applicator tool for the scale. The reference mark is bidirectional and can be ordered at a fixed position at point of order.
Offering great application versatility, the LM15 encoders come in digital output variants and offer a range of resolutions including 5 µm, 10 µm, 20 µm, 50 µm, 125 µm and 625 µm. The LM15 delivers high speed operation of up to 50 m/s (more than 42 m/s at 25 µm).
Engineered for extreme service, the solid-state LM15 linear encoders offer operating temperatures from -20 °C to +85 °C, water-proof sealing to IP68, and high resistance to shock, vibrations, and pressure. The non-contact, frictionless design eliminates wear while reducing hysteresis for high precision at high speeds and acceleration.
The LM15 encoders bring reliable solutions to tough, hard-working applications including woodworking, stone-cutting, sawing, metalworking, textiles, packaging, paper and converting, plastics processing, automation and assembly systems, laser/flame/water-jet cutting, electronic chip/board production, etc.
NEW 12 bit encoder for digital motor control
5/13/2009 12:00 AM
Renishaw's new AM4096 magnetic encoder IC developed by its associate company RLS d.o.o. takes proven on-axis encoder technology a step further with increased functionality and reduced costs. The OnAxis™ technology is used in many demanding motor and control applications where traditional encoder technologies might fail.
The AM4096 system on-chip magnetic encoder provides UVW outputs with 16 poles (8 pole pairs), incremental, absolute, linear (potentiometer), tacho generator and sinusoidal outputs. Resolution is to 12-bit (4096 steps per turn) with a programmable zero position. The AM4096 is a 3.3 V (or 5 V) low power device with a sleep mode for battery operation. It can be supplied preprogrammed or may be customer programmed with settings stored within its on chip EEPROM. The magnetic encoder is capable of high speed operation to 30,000 rpm and can withstand temperatures from -40°C to +125°C.
Typical applications for the new magnetic encoder IC include commutation and high-speed motor control, position and velocity control, potentiometer replacement and optical encoder replacement.
All of the sensor and processing electronics have been placed within the compact silicon design. The rotation of a simple north / south magnet is picked up by the AM4096's sensor and provides absolute positional information output.
The new LM10 linear encoder joins the proven family of rotary magnetic encoders made by RLS
11/18/2007 12:48 PM
The New LM10 linear magnetic encoder brings 100 m travel and fit-and-forget reliability to demanding high-speed, precision applications. The solid-state, non-contact design features a compact IP68 readhead that rides at up to 1.5 mm from the self adhesive magnetic strip scale.
The non-contact magnetic sensing delivers reliability in applications too dusty, dirty, greasy or destructive for optical encoders, while providing OEMs with major cost savings. Installation is simplified with an integral setup LED, wide installation tolerances and an applicator tool for the scale/reference mark. The reference mark can either be ordered at a fixed position or it can be applied by the user using the provided applicator tool.
Offering great application versatility, the LM10 encoders come in digital or analog output variants and offer a range of customer selectable resolutions including 1 µm, 2 µm, 5 µm, 10 µm, 20 µm and 50 µm. The LM10 delivers high speed operation of up to 25 m/s (4 m/s at 1 µm).
Engineered for extreme service, the solid-state LM10 linear encoders offer operating temperatures from -20 °C to +85 °C, water-proof sealing to IP68, and high resistance to shock, vibrations, and pressure. The non-contact, frictionless design eliminates wear while reducing hysteresis for high precision at high speeds and acceleration.
The LM10 encoders bring reliable solutions to tough, hard-working applications including woodworking, stone-cutting, sawing, metalworking, textiles, packaging, paper and converting, plastics processing, automation and assembly systems, laser/flame/water-jet cutting, electronic chip/board production, etc.
