What is the maximum speed of RM/RE encoders?

RM encoders are frictionless when properly installed. The speed depends mainly on the resolution. Maximum speed is 30,000 rpm.

 

RE encoders have a speed limited by ball bearings and additionally by their sealing for higher IP factor. See the table in the datasheet for estimated bearing life of RE encoders. Maximum speed for encoders without seals is 20,000 rpm. The IP68 version must be immersed in fluid in order to ensure reliable operation.
