Yes, it is possible to order only the magnetic ring/scale. A magnetic ring or scale acts as an information carrier. A functioning encoder system consists of a magnetic ring or scale and a readhead. In order to guarantee the specifications given in the RLS data sheets and to offer our support, we recommend the use of RLS readheads.
If you use a readhead from another manufacturer, it might be that the system may not function properly or will perform poorly, especially when you use a ring/scale with a reference mark, it is possible that the readhead may not be able to detect it.
