RLS was proud to participate in the 4th Slovenian Conference on Chips and Semiconductors, SLO-Chip 2026, which took place on 22 January 2026 in Ljubljana. As a long-term sponsor of SLO-Chip since its very first edition, RLS is proud to continuously support the development and strengthening of the Slovenian and wider European semiconductor industry.

The conference once again brought together leading experts from academia and industry to exchange knowledge and discuss current trends and challenges in the field of integrated circuits and semiconductor technologies.

At this year’s conference, RLS was represented by Senior ASIC Design Engineer Rok Krajnc, who delivered a technical presentation entitled “CPU Bus Protocols – An Overview of Bus Architectures in Embedded and Softcore Processors.” In his talk, Rok provided a structured overview of CPU bus architectures, highlighting why bus selection is a critical design decision in embedded and softcore processor systems. The presentation addressed key factors such as performance, latency, bandwidth, system complexity, power efficiency, and verification effort—offering valuable insights for engineers designing modern SoCs and embedded platforms.

Through practical examples and comparisons of bus architectures ranging from simple memory interfaces and peripheral buses to advanced protocols such as AXI, the presentation demonstrated how architectural decisions directly influence system performance, scalability, and development cost. A key message of the talk was the importance of selecting the right level of complexity for each application rather than over-engineering designs.

RLS’s ongoing sponsorship and active participation in SLO-Chip reflect the company’s long-term commitment to semiconductor innovation, engineering excellence, and knowledge sharing. Supporting events like SLO-Chip is an important part of RLS’s contribution to the growth of the semiconductor ecosystem and to fostering collaboration between industry and academia.

RLS thanks the organisers of SLO-Chip 2026 for another successful conference and looks forward to continuing its support and involvement in future editions.
