What is the difference between standard and high EMC grade?

The encoders for standard EMC grade have a single shielded cable and a plastic shell connector and those for high EMC grade have a double shielded cable and a metal shell connector.

The RM/RE encoder systems conform to the relevant harmonised European standards for electromagnetic compatibility as detailed in the relevant Installation guides.

EMC compliance: BS EN 61326

Encoder systems with double-screened cable (high EMC grade variants) meet criteria A for all of the requirements of the given standards, while encoder systems with single-screened cable (standard EMC grade variants) meet either criteria A or B for each of these requirements.
