When is better to use stick-on reference than machined reference mark?

*Stick-on reference mark: for use with MS10 only.

Our preferred option for reference marks is the machined reference mark. The stick-on reference mark can be used for prototypes, when the final position has not yet been set. It gives you the possibility to select the position of the reference mark on the spot, when you are building/installing your system. The disadvantage of using the stick-on reference mark is that the ride height needs to be at least 0.5 mm, which increases the SDE. If the ride height is too low, the readhead could hit the reference mark, moving it out of position. Furthermore, the stick-on reference mark needs to be installed correctly with the help of a reference mark applicator.
